Architecture, tent poles, and tent pegs
Lightweight shatterproof and frost-proof aluminum tent poles: 7001 ร 8.5 mm.
Tent pegs/stakes:
Length 6.7″, ร 6.1 mm.
Non-anodized 7075 aluminum for maximum strength and lightness while lowering the environmental impact.
Traditional dome shape to make the structure free-standing. A front tent pole with a peak provides additional volume and therefore a more habitable porch.
Pitching/striking
The Forclaz tents are tested fully pitched in the laboratory: 200 L/mยฒ/h for 4 hours, i.e. equivalent to a tropical rain shower. They are also tested in the field by a sample user group.
75-denier PES polyester flysheet and groundsheet, polyurethane coating on the inside, water-repellent treatment on the outside.
Seams taped with heat-sealed strips.
Multi-component and water-repellent 75D polyester bedroom that is breathable, provides protection from the wind, and reduces condensation.
Wind-resistance
We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable where we can expose each side of the tent to the wind.
To test its wind-resistance, the tent must be properly pitched, taut but not stretched, with all the guy ropes in position around the tent. It should remain habitable at wind speeds of 37 mph, measured near ground level.
Our tents are certified by the CSTB independent laboratory in Nantes.
Ventilation and condensation prevention
Bedroom with mosquito screen for ventilation and water-repellent fabric to protect from condensation and drafts. There is an air vent at the back of the tent.
To reduce condensation inside the tent, it must be correctly assembled with a canvas that’s taut, but not excessively so. The use of the air vent and good air circulation reduces moisture inside.
Seasons
3-season tent: Your tent will protect you from the harsh weather conditions you can encounter in the spring, summer, or autumn. It will withstand light snowfall but is not designed to withstand heavy loads that would weigh on the structure.
In case of snow, remember to shake your tent regularly in order to bring down any snow that has accumulated to avoid putting too much weight on the structure of your tent.
Eco-designed tent
We have decided to use “biton” thread for this tent’s bedroom fabric (1 out of every 2 threads is dyed to reduce the impact).
Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce this impact on the environment, we use only 1 mass-dyed yarn out of every 2 and thereby reduce our consumption and our impact on water.
Tent eco-design (continued)
The tent pegs are not anodized.
We have stopped using nitric and phosphoric acids to fix the color because its only function is to make them look aesthetically pleasing.
Your tent pegs can have an “untreated” or “used” appearance, but they retain all their technical characteristics and strength.
The fabric of the room is bulk dyed, which reduces water consumption and COยฒ emissions.
These actions help to reduce the environmental impact of your product.
Repairs and After-sales service
As designers and users who love our field, we care about the durability of our products, which is why all our tents are designed to be repairable.
You will find the detachable parts (poles, bedroom, etc.) in store or in the workshop of your local Decathlon, on the website, or at the address support.decathlon.fr
If you have a problem, don’t hesitate to have your tent looked at in your local Decathlon store.
