Waterproofing test

Footwear waterproofing test: these boots, which have been tested in the laboratory and the field, have a breathable, waterproof membrane for optimum protection in the rain. First, the boot is immersed in water with pressurized air inside to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Then, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water to test that the inside remains perfectly dry.

3 levels of waterproofing

During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (about 2.5 miles of walking), 4000 flexes (about 5 miles of walking) and 8000 flexes (about 10 miles of walking). Naturally, when the boot has dried after the test or in use, it regains its original waterproof rating.

Waterproofing level

The TREK 100 boot has passed the waterproofing test involving 8000 flexes, i.e. 10 miles of walking in water up to the middle of the upper.

Lab tests

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements:
– attachment of eyelets and webbing
– sole assembly
– toxicology
– UV resistance
– abrasion of the sole and upper components
– accelerated aging.

Buying tips

Try on both boots, while standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check 2 comfort points: the base of the heel and the forefoot when going downhill.
You should feel no pressure points when trying them on. Feel free to walk around the store.
Gradually wear in your boots over the course of a few hikes so that they conform to your feet.

Most materials are of European origin.

Outer sole of : 60.0% Thermoplastic polyurethane, Outer sole of : 40.0% Polyurethane
Upper of : 50.0% Polyester cationic, Upper of : 30.0% Split bovine leather, Upper of : 20.0% Polyurethane
Lining and sock of : 100.0% Polyester cationic

Care Instructions

Use the brush and/or sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Always brush in the same direction to give nubuck its original look. The use of cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. While it will not damage the leather, it will change the aspect of your boots.

Grip : CROSSCONTACT sole for a better grip and traction on hard and wet ground.

Fit : 2 top hooks and 1 blocking hook for good ankle support.
