Waterproof, support, precise hold and grip guaranteeing comfort and safety in the toughest of mountain terrains. Full grain leather upper for longer wear.
These boots, which have been co-designed with backpacking enthusiasts, provide maximum support and safety when walking off-trail.
Footwear waterproofing test
These boots, which have been laboratory and field tested, are equipped with a waterproof membrane that provides optimum waterproofing and breathability. First, the boot is immersed in water while the air pressure inside is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half-immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing
In the impermeability test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing:
2000 flexes (about 2.5-mile walk),
4000 flexes (about 5-mile walk)
8000 flexes (about 10-mile walk).
Of course, after this test or in use, the boot regains its original waterproofing once dry.
Footwear waterproofing rating
The TREK 900 boot is validated on the impermeability test in 8000 flexes or 10 miles walking in water up to the mid-upper.
Laboratory tests
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements:
– secure attachment of eyelets and hooks
– gluing of the sole
– toxicology
– UV resistance
– abrasion of the sole and upper components
– accelerated aging.
Care instructions
Use a brush and/or sponge to clean the boot and remove dirt or mud residue.
Then, leave to air-dry away from a heat source.
Finish with a nourishing cream to keep the leather nice and flexible and prolong the lifespan of the boot.
Buying tips
Try on both boots, while standing up, with the socks worn for hiking.
Try on several models and several sizes if required.
Check 2 comfort points: the base of the heel (the heel should not lift or very little) and the forefoot when going downhill (the toes should not touch the front of the boot).
Avoid any pressure points when fitting.
Don’t hesitate to walk around the store.
Gradually wear in your boots during your first few hikes so that they conform to your feet.
Manufacture
TREK 900 boots are made in the European Union, in Romania, in a factory that specialists in the manufacturing of backpacking boots.
This factory exclusively uses water-based glue, without chemical solvents.
Most materials are sourced in the European Union.
Re-soling
When the rubber sole is too worn and no longer provides the grip and traction it should, you can have the boot re-soled.
To do so, go to your nearest Decathlon store or nearby shoemaker.
