Are you going hiking this summer? These hiking boots are the perfect choice for your child, with their lightweight and waterproof design and excellent grip for scrambling all over the place
Our hiking designers have developed these MH120 MID children’s boots for half-day hikes in wet and dry conditions on easy trails.
Sole grip
The design of the sole has been the subject of in-depth research at our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to offer the best compromise between grip and traction. As no 2 requirements are ever the same, we automatically look for the best compromise for walking on both wet and dry terrain.
3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing, i.e. 2,000 flexes (about 2 hours of walking), 4,000 flexes (about 4 hours of walking) and 8,000 flexes (about 8 hours of walking). The MH120 MID children’s boot is waterproof for 4,000 flexes.
Making waterproofing last longer
A shoe’s waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. To keep your feet dry for longer, it is therefore advisable to use a waterproof gaiter or mini-gaiter that will prevent water as well as pebbles, sand, etc. from getting inside through the top. It is advisable to use a waterproof spray several times a year. This restores the original water-repellent properties and prevents staining.
Buying tips
Get your child to try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Check the following 2 areas of comfort: the heel seating and the front of the foot on a downward slope. Avoid any pressure points when fitting. He or she should wear in the shoes gradually over a few hikes.
On the internet, you can print out the foot gauge and check your child’s foot length.
Which size should you choose?
For hiking, do not hesitate to choose 1 size above your usual size to ensure optimal comfort when going downhill and prevent your toes from hitting the front of the shoe. Advice: keep your toenails short and, before making your descent, check that your lacing prevents your foot from sliding toward the front of the boot.
Field test
All of our shoes are tested for initial comfort and comfort during use, by users who represent the target market, and under the same conditions as you would encounter in use. Our Mission Tests bring together the product manager with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.
Laboratory test
Further laboratory tests are also conducted to validate the following: secure attachment of eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, resistance to UV rays, abrasion of the sole and upper components, accelerated aging.
