CrossContact sole
The design of the sole has been the subject of in-depth research at our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to offer the best compromise between grip and traction. The sole design of the FH900 delivers more grip than traction. Definition > Traction: this prevents slipping on soft ground (wet or dry). Grip: this prevents slipping on hard ground (wet or dry).
Buying and fitting advice?
Try on both boots while standing, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check the following 2 areas of comfort: the heel seating and the front of the foot on a downward slope. Avoid any pressure points when fitting. It’s a good idea to walk around the store. Wear your boots for increasingly long periods to wear them in.
Which size should you choose?
For hiking, do not hesitate to choose 1 size above your usual size to ensure optimal comfort when going downhill and prevent your toes from hitting the front of the shoe. Advice: keep your toenails short and, before making your descent, check that your lacing prevents your foot from sliding toward the front of the boot.
Field tests
All of our shoes are tested for initial comfort and comfort during use, by users who represent the target market, and under the same conditions as you would encounter in use. Our Mission Tests bring together the product manager with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.
Lab tests
Further laboratory tests are also conducted to validate the following: secure attachment of eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, resistance to UV rays, abrasion of the sole and upper components, accelerated aging.
