fast mountain hiking in wet weather conditions. Protection from the rain and wind, light and breathable to go further
Sizing and fit information
Adjusted fit. Interior volume means you can wear this jacket in combination with a light, thin 2nd layer garment, like a fleece or light down jacket.
Hood
Stiff visor for maximum face protection.
Pocket system
1 breast pocket closed with a waterproof zipper in which you can fold up the jacket.
Main components
Blue part – waterproof, breathable 2.5-layer membrane component.
White part – ultra-water-repellent windproof component. Which improves the lightness, compressibility and breathability of the jacket. All seams are sealed to enhance overall waterproofing
Component breathability
Aside from the breathability of the fabrics used, Quechua develops technical solutions (zippers, air holes, mesh) etc) to improve the overall ventilation of all its jackets. These ventilation systems both regulate the temperature inside the garment and facilitate the wicking of perspiration generated by the body during activity.
Component with coating or a membrane
A coating is like a kind of paint applied to the inside of the fabric that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being softer, lighter, more durable and often more breathable than a coating.
This jacket has a membrane.
Component 3 layers, 2 layers or 2.5 layers
3 layers: the membrane is glued between the 2 inner and outer layers of the component. This construction increases the membraneโs longevity and the performance of the component. 2 layers: the membrane is glued only to the outer fabric; the inner protective lining is free. This construction costs less but is generally heavier. 2.5 layers: the membrane has inner protection with a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible.
Water-repellency of the component
The water repellency of a fabric is its ability to let water run off its surface, without absorbing it. In this way, the fabric does not get waterlogged and remains light, breathable and warm. Water repellency is obtained by a treatment applied on the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment (we recommend every 3 washes). All Quechuaโs waterproof jackets receive a water-repellent treatment.
A score for comparing productsโ environmental impact
The productโs environmental impacts are calculated over its entire lifecycle using different indicators. An overall A to E rating is allocated to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type with each other (T-shirts, pants, backpacks etc). Decathlon is a voluntary player in this environmental labeling initiative. For more info: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
