Waterproofing of the garment
This garment was approved following a test in a 60 L/sqm/h shower of water lasting one hour. This test replicates the conditions of a rain shower. The fabric of this jacket is water-repellent: it lets water pass over its surface without allowing it to seep in. As a result, the fabric does not soak up water and stays lightweight and breathable. This is accomplished by treating the outer surface of the fabric. Additionally, the main seams that are most exposed to rain are taped.
How to maintain the waterproof properties of the jacket over time
To maintain waterproofing over time, the water-repellent properties of the fabric must be reactivated: we recommend doing this every 3 washes or after wearing the garment about 10 times in the rain. After each wash, the garment must be thoroughly rinsed, after which the water-repellent properties can be easily restored: or through a short period with your tumble dryer or hair dryer, for example. You will find all the advice you need in the product details instructions.

Waterproof rating expressed in mm or Schmerber
We measure a fabric’s resistance to water pressure by the height (in mm) of the water column supported by the fabric (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the higher the waterproof rating of the fabric. A component with a waterproof rating of 2000 mm means that the fabric can withstand the pressure exerted by a 2000 mm column of water
Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance, or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric’s resistance, the more water vapor generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric’s breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric / 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric / RET > 20 = fabric is not breathable or has low breathability.
Environmental measurements
The environmental impact of each product is calculated for the product’s entire lifecycle using different indicators. A general ABCDE rating is attributed to help you identify the most eco-friendly products. The rating compares similar types of product to one another (T-shirts, pants, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to displaying environmental information. For more information: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
