Hike in all weathers! Give yourself optimum comfort with a 3D hood that can be adjusted with one movement, its fully taped zippers, and ventilation under the arms for better breathability.
At the foot of Mont Blanc, our team of hikers designed this jacket for seasoned hikers, wanting maximum protection in the mountains!
CUT
This jacket has a fitted cut. Its stretchy fabric allows you greater freedom of movement when you’re hiking. A warm layer, such as a fleece or a light padded jacket can be worn underneath.
You can choose your usual size, or a size above if you don’t want it to be worn fitted.
Quick-adjusting, 3D hood
One adjustment, just one movement to adjust the hood! 3-point adjustment system (height, depth and volume) thanks to 1 single elastic drawstring + tightening.
Deep, enveloping hood for excellent comfort.
Visor for maximum face protection.
CONSTRUCTION OF THE JACKET / 3 LAYERS
This jacket is constructed with 3 layers, providing the best protection on the market: the membrane is glued between the inner layer and the outer layer of the component (hence the name of 3-layer component).
The membrane is a kind of very thin Polyurethane film that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable.
It is protected by a knit, and has the advantage of being softer, lighter, more durable and often more breathable than a coating.
WATER-RESISTANCE TEST
We measure the water-resistance of the fabric and the water-resistance of the entire jacket. The water-resistance of this fabric is 15,000 mm Schmerber: this means that it withstands the pressure exerted by 15,000 mm of water column (ISO standard test).
This jacket has also been validated by a shower test reproducing conditions of a storm / 11.8″ of rain in 3 hours.

HOW TO RESTORE THE JACKET’S WATER-REPELLENCY?
The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents your jacket from soaking up water, and keeps it lightweight and breathable. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. However, this property may deteriorate with use.
All the steps for restoring water-repellent properties are described below:

BREATHABILITY TEST
The breathability of a material is its capacity to wick away the water vapor generated by perspiration. During intense effort, it is, therefore, essential to wear very breathable clothing so you do not stay wet.
Breathability is measured by the RET, the resistance of a fabric to the evacuation of moisture. The lower this coefficient, the more breathable the fabric is:
RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric
RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric
RET ≤ 20: fabric with low breathability
RECOMMENDED COMPLEMENTARY PRODUCT
MH500 overpants, to protect the lower half of your body for a complete and effective rain protection system for your mountain outings.
Breathability of the garment
In addition to using breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zippers, air vents, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of all its mountain walking jackets and overpants. These ventilation systems can be used to regulate the temperature inside the garment as well as eliminate the perspiration generated by the body during physical activity.
Component with a hydrophilic membrane
The component of your MH900 jacket consists of a membrane.
A membrane like a very fine plastic film (polyurethane) makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. A membrane has the advantage of being more flexible, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than a coating.
The coating is like a layer of paint applied on the underside of the fabric. It is often less costly than a membrane and requires a lining for protection.
3-layer component
The component of the MH900 jacket is a so-called “3 layer” component.
Indeed, the membrane is bonded between the inner layer and the outer layer of the component (hence the term 3-layer component). This construction helps the membrane last longer and enhances the component’s performance.
In the case of 2-layer components, the membrane is bonded to the outer fabric only, while the protective inner lining is free. This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome.
Water-repellent property of the component
A fabric’s water-repellent property is what makes water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from absorbing water, thereby keeping it lightweight, breathable and warm. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment’s lifetime (recommended after every 3 washes). All the Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water-repellent treatment.

Care products: waterproof spray or wash-in waterproofing liquid to restore the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimize performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
Score for comparing the products’ environmental impact
The product’s environmental impact is calculated over its entire lifecycle using various indicators. An overall rating from A to E is given to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing and contrasting products of the same type (T-shirts, pants, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products. For more information: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
