We use 90% recycled fill for this padded jacket.
The padded filling has 3 appealing qualities for hiking:
– it had good thermal insulation even when damp
– it provides breathability
– compressible

Water repellency

Water-repellency is a feature obtained by applying a treatment that prevents water from adhering to the surface of the fabric.
It “slides off” without being absorbed, so the garment remains lightweight, breathable, and warm. Be careful: This does not mean it’s waterproof.
This treatment can be repeated to keep all its effectiveness. Use sprays that are applied to the outside, rather than additives used when washing the garment, which can damage the product’s breathability.

Our environmental approach

Because we are aware that we must act to preserve our playground, Quechua is committed to limiting the environmental impact of its products. This product is not currently completely eco-designed, however we are working on a daily basis to make it more responsible: We don’t use fluorine on the main component, the fill is 90% recycled, and the polyester used is also recycled

Our Quechua global design center is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie.
This location makes it a real meeting place for our teams (designers, product managers, engineers, etc.) and outdoor sports enthusiasts.

Determining the environmental impact of our products

A product’s environmental impact is calculated over its entire lifecycle using various indicators.
A score from A to E is produced to help you make a responsible choice.
This rating is used to easily identify the products with the best environmental performance.
This is done by making a comparison between products of the same family (e.g. backpacks).
Decathlon is a voluntary supporter of this environmentally-friendly labeling approach.

Breathability : Recycled polyester knit: lets through water vapor generated by the body

Lightweight : Only 14.3 oz in size 10-11 years

Softness : Very pleasant liner fabric, used even in the hood.
