With this membrane component, the jacket resists all of a kid’s adventures. It protects them from the wind as well as from fine rain while they find shelter!
Our team, made up of parents of young hikers, developed this softshell jacket to protect kids from the cold during their outdoor activities.
Water repellency
Water-repellent treatment applied on the surface of the fabric. This process prevents the water from sticking on the surface of the fabric; it “slides off” without being absorbed. The clothing remains light, breathable, and warm.
This treatment can be renewed during the product’s life span to remain efficient. Use sprays that are applied to the outside, rather than additives used when washing the garment, which can damage the product’s breathability.
Windproofing
Wind protection is very important because of the significant chill effect that wind can have on the body, whether you are active or at rest. Depending on the “Windchill” model that measures the temperature felt in the wind and cold: For a temperature of 41°F combined with 20 mph, the temperature felt is 32°F. If the air temperature is 32°F and the wind speed is 20 mph, the perceived temperature will be 21°F. The components in our products cancel the effect of the wind
Microporous membrane
The membrane is a polyurethane layer sandwiched between the softshell jacket’s inner and outer fabrics. It protects from the wind and retains body heat. This membrane is also breathable: It lets out water vapor generated by the body (thanks to the microscopic pores). This prevents all types of condensation and users remain warm and dry.
