Can I be sure that my jacket is warm enough for my winter hikes?

We developed your jacket for wintry conditions: cold, rain and snow. The insulation is made with 5.3 oz/m² padding on the body and 3.5 oz/m² the arms associated with fleece at the back (synthetic insulating component thanks to the air it traps within its fibers)
. We added an inner flap under the zipper to block the passage of cold air. Tightening at the bottom of the tanka jacket completes the mechanism to ensure a comfortable jacket for temperatures as low as 14°F.

How does my jacket protect me from outdoor conditions?

Your jacket is designed with a waterproof outer component that keeps out water and wind. To stay warm in winter, you must also protect your extremities (head, hands, and feet). The waterproof hood, the rip-tab tightening systems at the cuffs and the high collar prevent the cold from getting inside. 2 warm pockets in very soft fleece protect your hands from the cold.

How can I be sure that my jacket is 100% waterproof?

We designed your jacket with an outer fabric coating to make it waterproof. A fabric’s resistance is measured using water pressure expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (test based on ISO 811). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a waterproof rating of 2000 mm can therefore withstand the pressure exerted by a 2000 mm column of water (Schmerber). Successfully passed a shower test under 60 L water/sqm/h, approximately a 2-hour rain shower.

Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have taped seams?

Your jacket is waterproof, thanks to 100% taped seams. Fitting waterproof strips inside the clothing makes the seams waterproof by limiting water ingress at these sensitive places.
We have checked the waterproofing with a specially designed shower test to reproduce conditions under a 2 hour rain shower. We have also worn it in the field in all conditions to make sure it is suitable for your activity.

Numerous compartments to keep your personal effects and accessories, making them readily available (handkerchiefs, keys, phone …) during your hikes.
2 lined pockets with flap snap closure on the outside and a secure inside pocket with a velcro-like closing.
A secure zip pocket is also available in the chest area.

How to preserve the technical qualities of my jacket?

The water repellency of a fabric is its ability to let the water slide off its surface, without absorbing it. In this way, the fabric does not soak up water and therefore remains lightweight, breathable and warm. Water repellency is obtained by a treatment applied on the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment (we recommend each wash). Products (sprays and liquids) are available in our stores.

How does my product warranty work?

This product is guaranteed for 2 years from the date shown on the receipt. A product covered by the warranty will be exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects, excluding those resulting from normal wear and tear and improper use.

How to dress properly for snow hiking?

To dress correctly in the winter, no matter what your activity is, we recommend that you apply the 3 layer principle:
layer 1: The technical base layer will enable damp to be wicked away to keep skin dry.
layer 2: The second layer (fleece, pullover) provides warmth and wicks away the damp.
layer 3: The jacket protects you from outdoor conditions: rain, snow, wind.
The outfit must be breathable to wick away damp.
