You will particularly appreciate its longline cut that covers the lower back and its very soft-touch stand-up collar for extra warmth.
The microgrid material at the chest and back is also recycled.
At the foot of the Mont-Blanc, our team of hikers eco-designed this warm and highly breathable fleece for regular hikers.
CUT
Jehanne, our fashion designer, and Paloma, our model maker, have carefully designed the lines of this fleece for a sporty, feminine style.
Paloma tells us: “I wanted to enhance the feminine curves with a relatively slim and comfortable fit, and lines that emphasize the waist.”
To be protected from the cold, it has a longline cut particularly at the lower back. Your hand can also be protected from the cold by a covering thumb loop.
Choose your usual size.
OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR ECO-DESIGN
At Decathlon, we know that our production and distribution activities have a big impact on the environment. That’s why we must take action. Not everything is perfect, but by using recycled polyester to make the microgrid material of this fleece, no new oil-based resources are used. The waste is recycled into resources that can be used again. At the same time, we are working on other measures to reduce our footprint even further
Warmth in the right place
We have chosen to combine 2 technical materials:
– a recycled “microgrid” material at the chest, back, collar and thumb-hole that provides effective protection from the cold like a conventional fleece, but with a much higher breathability thanks to its high-tech knit fabric;
– a smooth material that contains spandex, for total freedom of movement with your poles, while ensuring optimal breathability of the arms
HOW IS THE WARMTH MEASURED?
2 types of tests are conducted to measure the warmth of our fleeces:
– a fabric test
– a test on a thermal mannequin in a thermal chamber. We reproduce the temperature, wind (3 mph) and humidity conditions that you encounter in the mountains when walking at 3 mph
These tests are used to validate our design choices, and the whole garment is validated by testers in the field.
This fleece has a temperature rating from 50 to 55°F (without a jacket on top)
HOW IS BREATHABILITY MEASURED?
The breathability of a material is its capacity to wick away the water vapor generated by perspiration. During intense effort, it is, therefore, essential to wear very breathable clothing so you do not stay wet.
Breathability is measured by the RET, the resistance of a fabric to the evacuation of moisture. The lower this coefficient, the more breathable the fabric is:
RET ≤ 3: extremely breathable fabric
RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric
RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric
etc.
HOW DO YOU TEST THE DURABILITY?
We test the aging of our hiking fleeces to guarantee their durability. We guarantee:
– the backpack’s resistance to abrasion and arm movements, in order to delay pilling
– the strength of the seams
– the durability of the fleece material after washing
– colorfastness to washing, UV light or contact with perspiration.
