The kids’ padded gilet is warm, lightweight and compact. It contains fill for maximum thermal insulation and its water-repellent feature will protect your kid in a shower.
Our team of parents of young hikers developed this padded gilet to provide a good level of warmth for your kid on hikes as in everyday life.
Thermal insulation from synthetic padding
We use 90% recycled fill for this gilet.
The fill has 3 interesting qualities for hiking:
– it has good thermal insulation capacity, even when wet
– it provides some breathability and may be recommended in the case of dynamic activity (feather down is recommended for static activity)
– compressibility: Fill filling is highly compressible
Water-repellency
A quality achieved by applying a hydrophobic treatment to the fabric. This process prevents water from sticking to the fabric surface, causing it to “slide” off without soaking in. As a result, the garment remains lightweight, breathable and warm.
The effectiveness of the treatment can be restored during the product’s lifetime. Use sprays that are applied to the outside, rather than additives used when washing the garment, which can damage the product’s breathability.
A score for comparing products’ environmental impact
Decathlon is the first French company to have introduced environmental rating. This rating has been developed with ADEME (Environment and Energy Management Agency) as well as other French companies. It helps you assess productsโ environmental impact using a scale from A to E, A being the best score.
