Our team, made up of parents of young hikers, developed this padded jacket to protect kids from the cold during their outdoor activities!

Insulation from the recycled synthetic fill

The fill provides 3 appealing qualities for hiking:
– It has good thermal insulation capacity, even when wet
– It provides breathability and may be recommended in the case of dynamic activity (down is recommended for static activity)
– Compressibility: Fill is very compressible

Recycled fill (polyester)

Insulation made of 90% recycled fill.
By using recycled polyester, no new petroleum-based resources are used. The waste is recycled into resources that can be used again.

Water-repellent properties

Feature obtained by applying a hydrophobic water-repellent treatment to the fabric. This process prevents water from sticking to the fabric; it “runs off” the surface without getting absorbed. As a result, the garment remains lightweight, breathable, and warm.
The effectiveness of the treatment can be restored during the product’s lifetime. Use sprays that are applied to the outside, rather than additives used when washing the garment, which can damage the product’s breathability.

A score for comparing the products’ environmental impact

Decathlon is the 1st French company to have implemented an environmental scoring system. This score was worked out with the ADEME (French environment and energy management agency) and some other French companies. The environmental impact of the products is measured using a scale from A to E, A being the best score.
