Our motivation? Make available to you comfortable, mid-height, waterproof leather walking boots that adapt to all footpaths with low gradient. Without compromising on style!
CrossContact sole
Sole design that has been the subject of extensive research in our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to optimize grip and traction. As the need are not the same, we systematically seek the best compromise for walking on soft paths (forest trail type) and stone paths (coastal path type).
Designed for use on country trails
Our hiking boots are designed for use on country trails. Indeed, we choose and test the components of the sole and the upper of our boots to adapt effectively to hiking on soft trails (forest or earth paths) or stone trails (rocky coastal footpath). Use on roads (tarmac) can lead to the premature wear of your boots and cause discomfort. They are not suitable for hiking in the mountains.
How to choose the right size of hiking boot?
We recommend you try 2 boots, standing, with walking socks. Try several models in several sizes if needed. Check the following 2 areas of comfort: the heel and the front of the foot when going downhill. There should be no compression points when fitting. We recommend you wear your boots in gradually during your first hikes to break them in.
Laboratory test
Laboratory tests are also conducted to validate the following : tearing of eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, resistance to UV rays, abrasion of the sole and upper components, accelerated aging. We use these tests to improve the quality of our products and prevent the premature wear of our hiking boots.
Limiting our environmental impact
For these boots, we have chosen more environmentally friendly components:
– Upper (front of the shoe, flap and top of the shoe): 52% recycled polyester and 48% dope-dyed polyamide (dye that uses less water)
– tongue and collar lining: 100% recycled polyester
– 100% recycled PES laces and eyelets
-insole: 85% recycled Polyurethane foam and 100% polyester lining
– outer sole: 30% recycled rubber
The boot/sock combination plays a key role.
Blisters have many causes during walks: rubbing, a fold in the socks, damp, shoes that are a size too small or too big…
We therefore recommend you choose the correct shoe size and the sock fabric that is adapted to your walking shoes.
How to choose the right size of hiking boot
The size of socks chosen must fit the foot to avoid any additional creases in the sock: either because the sock is too big resulting in too much material around your foot, or because the sock is too small resulting in additional fabric being pulled inside the boot.
How to choose the material of your hiking socks
You need to manage damp as best you can when walking: you will sweat, it is often inevitable.
If your shoe is breathable, it will wick away the damp from your perspiration: you need to choose light and breathable socks also
If your shoe is waterproof, to protect yourself from the dampness of rain and you will not make the same choice: you should prefer socks that will absorb your perspiration and then wick it away from your foot.
Which socks are adapted to the NH500 mid boot?
These boots offer some breathability but not enough to wick away all the moisture of your perspiration. Wear the NH500 high socks: they contain cotton, which absorbs moisture, and have a terry construction under the sock that draws moisture away from your foot. And theyβre high enough to protect your ankle from the boot.
It is an excellent combination to limit the appearance of blisters.
