These boots warm and waterproof at 2/3 of their height via their double-walled shoe are very easy to put on thanks to their side zipper. The snowcontact sole ensures a good grip on the snow.
Can I be sure that my boots are warm enough for my winter hikes?
We chose a warm lining that has insulation to give you effective protection from the cold.
We tested it in the lab and in the field with representative users. We checked to what temperature it stays comfortable when you arenβt moving and when you walk, as it varies a lot: 16Β°F when static and 3Β°F when active. And we took into account the different ways women and men feel the cold.
How do my boots protect me from outdoor conditions?
Your boots have been designed with a mid-height structure (WATSHELL double inner wall patent) thatβs 100% waterproof to protect the part of the foot most in contact with the snow (waterproof boot up to 2/3 height). The textile upper is water-repellent and warm to give you good protection against cold and snow ingress.
How can I be sure my boots are 100% waterproof?
We made sure that your boots are waterproof by conducting laboratory tests to simulate walking with the boots half-submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and aging. During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (about 2.5-mile walk), 4000 flexes (about 5-mile walk) and 8000 flexes (about 10-mile walk). Your boots were tested to 8000 flexes, which is equivalent to 10 miles of walking.
(NB: The upper is water-repellent)
What is the difference between traction and snorkeling?
The grip of the boots is linked to the studs, their number and shape. Traction depends on the materials and ridges used on the soles, like your car’s tires. Traction optimizes propulsion, prevents the boot from slipping backwards when going uphill and stabilizes the boot.
Grip prevents the boot from slipping and skidding on smooth ground or in demanding conditions (rain, snow, ice) by giving grip to the sole.
Which type of grip and traction does this shoe provide?
Equipped with SNOWCONTACT soles, your boots are designed for maximum grip comfort for hiking and traction on snow. The arrangement and height of the studs (5 mm) are strategically placed for optimal grip when hiking on snow. The surface and design of the studs are designed to perfectly grip the layer of hard snow and evacuate excess water so they donβt slip.
How does the SNOWCONTACT technology used on the boot sole help me?
The SNOWCONTACT soles are designed using a specific component and a lug pattern that is designed to provide the best possible grip and traction. SNOWCONTACT soles are more effective than traditional soles on snow. When used on ice, optimum safety can only be ensured by adding non-slip grips.
Will my boots withstand regular use over the long term?
Our engineers conduct laboratory tests to fully guarantee your satisfaction in use. Among other things, we validate the following elements: strength of eyelets and straps, strength of glued assemblies, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of the sole and upper components and accelerated aging.
How to choose the right footwear for snow hiking?
To be well equipped in winter, we recommend that you follow these principles :
Warmth: warmth provided by a warm pair of socks (ideally containing a suitable percentage of wool)
Breathability: Choose the sock according to the intensity of the hike and make sure you get a breathable model to minimize moisture.
Boot height: adjust the height of the sock to the height of the boot and preferably choose high models if want more protection.
How to preserve the technical qualities of my boots?
A fabric’s water-repellent property is its capacity to make water run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. A fabric becomes water-repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. Products (spray or liquid) designed specifically for this purpose are available in our stores.
How does my product warranty work?
This product is guaranteed for 2 years from the date shown on the sales receipt. A product covered by the warranty will be repaired or exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects, excluding those resulting from normal wear and tear and improper use.
